Window cleaning inside and out, in Vaughan and Toronto

Glass on both sides and the sills, for houses, condos and businesses across Vaughan, Toronto and the GTA. Count your windows by floor, text us a photo, and we reply with an estimate.

Four places dirt sits on a window, seen from the side

A sealed window has panes of glass with a closed gap between them. Look closely at yours and work out where the mark is. It tells you what a cleaning will change.

1

The outside face

Rain spots, dust and pollen. This is the face we clean when you book the outside of the window.

2

The sealed gap

Fog or drops in here mean the seal has broken. Natural Resources Canada says to replace the sealed glass unit, because no cloth can get inside it.

3

The inside face

Fingerprints, cooking film, and the low patch where the dog presses its nose. This side goes on your list too.

4

The sill

Dust all year, and water in winter when condensation runs down the glass. Black spots along the bottom edge are a different problem, and our article on window sill mould and condensation explains what to do about it.

What goes on the list when you book the glass

A regular home clean dusts the blinds and the sills. Washing the windows themselves is a separate job, so you ask for it by name and choose the sides you want. We use eco-friendly products.

  • Glass on the inside
  • Glass on the outside
  • Window sills
  • Mirrors, if you want them done as well

If the sofa or the bed is due as well, our upholstery and mattress cleaning page covers those.

The dashed line marks 3 metres above the ground. A drawing, not to scale, so measure from the ground to your own sill.

Count your windows floor by floor, and one text is enough

We can estimate without coming out first when the message has these details. A clear photo of the front of the house helps.

  1. Each floorHow many windows on the ground floor, how many upstairs, and any in the basement.
  2. The sidesInside, outside or both, for all of them or only some.
  3. The way inHow each window can be reached: from a room, a balcony or the yard. Mention a locked gate or a deck in the way.
  4. The odd onesA very large pane, a window over the stairs, anything you can't get near yourself.

Stickers, stone sills and other things to mention first

Window makers give plain advice about these. Each one is worth a line in your message.

Stickers, tape, sticky fingersJELD-WEN Canada takes these off first, with a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad.Take them off, or point them out in your photo.
Vinyl framesJELD-WEN's window questions page asks for mild soap and water, with no harsh chemicals or abrasive pads.Leave the scouring pad in the cupboard if a frame has a mark. Show it to us instead.
A marble or other stone sillJELD-WEN says vinegar is generally safe on glass but should stay off natural stone.Tell us what the sill is made of. Our countertop article explains why stone reacts.
White spots where a sprinkler hitsJELD-WEN notes that the minerals in hard water can leave a less even clean.Mention the sprinkler. Our shower glass article gives the hardness of York Region water.

What Ontario's window cleaning rule says about height

Regulation 859 covers window cleaning where a worker could fall 3 metres or more. It's one reason we ask which floor a window is on and how it can be reached, and then confirm what we can do for that window.

In a condo tower, cleaning the outside of the glass usually involves the building. Where a suspended scaffold or a bosun's chair is used, the regulation has the owner prepare a sketch of the anchor points and give it to the window cleaning company before work starts, and Ontario's guidance sets out the rest of the owner's duties. Your management office can tell you when that is booked.

For your own unit, tell us about the inside of the glass and the balcony door. Our condo cleaning page covers the desk and elevator side of a visit.

Four small jobs that get the glass ready

Clear the sills

Plants, picture frames and chargers come off, so the whole sill gets wiped.

Raise the blinds

Pull the curtains back too. Anything delicate that hangs close to the glass is safer tied up or taken down.

Open a path to each pane

Move the small table from under the window and shift whatever is stacked against a patio door.

Leave the side gate open

If you booked the outside, bring the dog in as well, and say so if a neighbour's fence runs close to the wall.

What people ask about their windows

Can you get the fog out from between the panes?

That moisture sits inside the sealed unit, where no cleaning reaches. Natural Resources Canada says a broken seal means replacing the glass unit. Both outer faces of the same window can still be cleaned as usual.

Can I ask for windows along with a house clean?

Yes. Name both in the same message, along with the size of the home and your window count, and we quote for what you listed. If the home needs more than a regular visit, ask about a deep clean.

Do you clean the glass of a store or an office?

Yes, we clean windows for businesses as well as homes. Send the number of panes and the hours the place is closed. We're open 24 hours, every day. For the rest of the space, see commercial cleaning.

How far from Vaughan do you come for windows?

We work up to about 50 km from Vaughan: Toronto, Richmond Hill, Markham, Brampton, Mississauga, and as far as Hamilton, Ajax and Keswick. Give us the address when you send the photo.
